Un moment décisif

I wanted to deal with the nature of moments in the context of both photographic appearance and human perception. I used slit-scan photography as a tool which I've studied both from a theoretical side and projects using it in practice in the last few years. The series consists of events recorded with a slit-scan method where a long-standing state changes to another state presumably also remaining unaltered for a long time. As the time dimension appears on the vertical axis of the images the moment of change can be seen in the middle cutting through the static timeline. This is a reference to how people structure memories of life events and also generally expand the momentary nature of photography.
